Light in the Desert City

Designing with Riyadh's fierce sun: how deep reveals, shade and 2700K scenes create calm interiors.

Light in the Desert City

Riyadh receives some of the most intense daylight on earth. The temptation is to fight it with tint and blackout. We prefer to negotiate with it.

Deep window reveals — sometimes 600mm or more — turn harsh sun into a soft wash. By the time light reaches a linen curtain, it has already been tamed twice. Inside, we hold every artificial source at 2700K or warmer, so evening feels like a continuation of the golden hour, not a fluorescent correction of it.

The result is an interior that breathes with the day: bright and serene at noon, amber and intimate by night.
